Calypsonian Bernard “I Reality” White is in the news, but not for his compilations for Vincy Mas 2014.

The 65-year-old bard has been charged with grievous bodily harm of his brother, 54-year-old Fitzroy White, also of McKies Hill.

The veteran calypsonian appeared before Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias in Kingstown today — Monday — and was granted EC$4,000 bail.

It is alleged that the two brothers got into a fracas and the calypsonian threw a cup of hot tea on his brother, causing burns to the body.

Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Glenford Greg suggested that the singer be allowed bail in in own recognisance, adding that he is a prominent citizen.

However, while the magistrate agreed to bail, she asked that there be a surety.

The accused was also ordered not to have any contact with the  virtual complainant.

The next hearing in the matter is set for June 17 at Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.

  1. Well! Well! Well! Calypsonian “I Reality” gets bail for throwing hot liquid on his brother in an argument , and Tashika Da Souza gets no bail, and a 1 year sentence for burning her son with a lukewarm iron… hmmn? Double standard, or class distinction? “The Magistrate need she head checked”. SVG get your act together!
