The General Elections in St. Kitts and Nevis

The SVG Internet Crazies congratulate the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis on the conduct of peaceful elections yesterday, Feb. 16, 2015.

The Office of the SVG Internet Crazies is, like the Office of the SVG PM, “disappointed that the Office of the Supervisor of Elections is yet to declare officially the results of the preliminary count and has not put appropriate measures in place to effect the final count in accordance with the law and established practice. This unprecedented tardiness of the Office of the Supervisor of Elections in both respects has given rise to unnecessary political uncertainty, particularly against the backdrop of the controversies surrounding the motion of no-confidence against the government and the alteration of the constituency boundaries.”

The office of the SVG Internet Crazies is further disappointed that in 2013, the then chairman of CARICOM, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves, failed to make any pronouncement on behalf of CARICOM, that condemned the anti-democratic and unconstitutional actions of the then Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, who unconstitutionally ignored a call from the parliamentary opposition party Team Unity, led by Dr., The Hon. Timothy Harris for a parliamentary debate on a motion of no confidence in the government.

Therefore, the office of the SVG Internet Crazies is now calling Codswallop on the Office of the Prime Minister in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the hypocritical and now irrelevant statement of disappointment in relation to the Office of the Supervisor of Elections in St Kitts-Nevis, now that it is clear that the election has been lost by the incumbent St Kitts Nevis Labour Party. We ask:

Where was the voice of Prime Minister Gonsalves when the democratic traditions of a country and a region being trampled into the dust by his friend and colleague in St Kitts and Nevis?

We contend that “the democratic institution of State, namely the law courts and the general elections, have worked satisfactorily despite” the attempts by a power-hungry prime minister to subvert them.

We agree that “It is not acceptable for the Office of the Supervisor of Elections to abdicate its legal and customary obligations or responsibilities” and we further contend that it is hypocritical in the extreme for those who were silent in the face of major and wholesale assaults against the legal, democratic and constitutional obligations and responsibilities in St Kitts-Nevis, to now pretend to be concerned about same, now that such concern is irrelevant.

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has today (Tuesday) advised that he “has spoken on the above, and related, matters with Dr. Denzil Douglas, leader of the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, and Dr. Timothy Harris, leader of “Team Unity”.   He states he has also been in oral communication with other Prime Ministers in our region, including Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt, Chairman of the OECS. The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has expressed, too, his government’s views on the matter to the Secretary-General of CARICOM and other important Caribbean personalities. He has been unable, thus far, to reach the Chairman of CARICOM, Prime Minister Perry Christie of the Bahamas.”

We wish the Prime Minister of SVG had found his voice of concern and principled commitment back in 2013 when the democratic and constitutional traditions were being trampled by the then Prime Minister in St Kitts and when he, Gonsalves, was the Chairman of CARICOM. When Dr. Gonsalves was in a position to say and do something about the immature political leadership that attacked and undermined the “values of democracy, constitutionalism, law and order” he was silent and did nothing.

We contend that his discussions today with all of the above are a waste of time and he might as well be silent now. His talks are meaningless and of no value at this time. The election has been won.

We urge him instead to use his time and his office now, to ensure that the values of democracy, constitutionalism, law and order are not undermined in our blessed SVG, when his time comes, very soon, to face the polls.

Dated the 17th day of February, 2015.

  1. Luzette, we must remember that is probably the craziest user of the internet among us.

Frequently posting articles, letters, and opinions under assumed names, his press secretary and others.

All these ancient Marxists stick together until they may show their true cowardice and take fright of being on the wrong side of right. That I believe is what is happening with Gonsalves.

We Nah turn back, certainly doesn’t apply to him, he is the original Mr Flip-Flop, in more ways than one.

  2. You know, when I first saw this in my In-box, a glance at the headline led me to think that this was Dr the Hon Ralph Gonsalves saying, “internet crazies are disappointed too”. And I thought “Is what he on about again” and skipped it. It is only today, when I am going over all my unread e-mails that I opened this one and discovered that it was Luzette King talking about our beloved PM. That will teach me to read the e-mail headlines more carefully!
I suppose that after the Privy Council decision (Did you-all listen to the broadcast session of the arguments before the PC? I love English judges. They can tell a colleague that he’s talking codswallop without ever using such an ill-bred word. I certainly want to read their written decision as soon as it’s available) dearest Ralp couldn’t possibly say that he’s disappointed that friend Denzil did not win.
    Atta-girl, Luzette!

  3. This is the individual who had wished for a TSUNAMI to wash away AIA? So tell us, would the TSUNAMI pass by quietly and remove the ARGYLE airport, without causing additional damage to other parts of SVG? I see, have mercy LORD on these people.
