The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association (SVGTA) will hold its first major event since the election of the current executive on April 2.

On April 30, the SVGTA will be hosting a mini-doubles tournament at the National Tennis Centre at Villa from 10 a.m.

The categories in which matches will be played are Under-10 Singles, Under-14 Doubles, and 14-and-over Doubles in both Boys and Girls divisions.
Registration is EC$5for Under-10s, while the registration charge for all Doubles will be EC$20 per team.

The SVGTA will also have barbeque and refreshments on sale, as it seeks to raise funds to aid in the implementation of its programmes going forward.

“There is no limit on any age for persons willing to participate, and it is an Open Mini Tournament, and a number of past players have indicated their participation,” said public relations officer, Robertson S. Henry.

He further pointed out that some of those players have represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the past, and it would be a most welcome sight to see them return to the court in a gesture of helping to give something back to the sport.

Meanwhile, the SVGTA is moving ahead with plans to host the 2016 International Tennis Federation Junior tennis tournament in August, which is a contributor to the island’s sports tourism product.
