The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad has reported that at 5:42 p.m. today, Tuesday, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred 16.0 km SSE of Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago.

The earthquake was reported as felt in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

The event was located at 11.04 degrees north and 60.70 degrees west with a depth of 29 kilometres.

“These results are preliminary and may vary slightly when additional data is processed,” the centre said.

The National Emergency Management Organisation in SVG said it had not received any reports of damage or injury resulting from the earthquake.
