A fire in Georgetown on St. Vincent’s eastern coast destroyed three wooden houses Tuesday night, leaving an equal number of families homeless.

Police in Georgetown say that the fire was discovered sometime after 8 p.m. Tuesday night.

It is believed to have originated in one of three houses located in a yard in the North Central Windward town, but the cause of the blaze is yet unknown.

The fire then spread to two other wooden houses, destroying them and their contents.
