Terms of Use

1. General prohibition of use and intellectual property rights

1.1 Unless otherwise expressly stated, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer, download, post, broadcast, transmit, distribute, lend, hire, sub-license, rent, perform, make a derivative work from, make available to the public, adapt, alter, edit, re-position, frame, rebrand, change or otherwise use in any way any iWitness News content in whole or in part on your product or service or elsewhere or permit or assist any third party to do the same except to the extent permitted at law.

1.2 all copyright, trade marks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights (registered and unregistered) in iWitness News shall remain vested in iWitness News or its licensors; and

1.3 the names, images and logos identifying iWitness News, its licensors or third parties and their products and services in iWitness News content are subject to copyright, design rights and trade marks (registered and unregistered) of iWitness News or any other relevant third party or licensor.

2. How you may use iWitness News online services

If you comply with these Terms of Use and any applicable Additional Terms and with all relevant laws (for instance, copyright law), you may use iWitness News to access, view and/or listen to iWitness News content for your personal and non-business use.

3. The basis on which iWitness News makes the iWitness News online services available to you

3.1 iWitness News does not guarantee that all iWitness News content and/or iWitness News online services will always be available or be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free from bugs, viruses, errors and omissions.

3.2 iWitness News reserves its right to modify, suspend or discontinue all or part of any iWitness News online service or any part of the iWitness News content without giving you any notice.

3.3 Any commentary, opinions or other materials included in iWitness News content are not intended to amount to advice on which you should rely.

4. Digital Rights Management

So that iWitness News can meet its obligations to third parties who own rights in iWitness News content, iWitness News may embed digital rights management security in iWitness News content and/or use other content-protection measures. You may not adjust or circumvent or try to adjust or circumvent these technical measures.

5. How can I make contributions to iWitness News?

5.1 iWitness News may invite you to make, share or submit your own, original contributions to iWitness News. These Terms of Use and any Additional Terms for particular iWitness News services set out the rules governing how you may do so and how iWitness News may use your contribution. Your contribution may include text, photographs, graphics, video or audio.

5.2 If you submit your contribution to iWitness News you must allow the iWitness News to use the material in your contribution in any way it may reasonably choose on a free-of-charge basis in any media throughout the world. Any contributions you make may be moderated by iWitness News which means they may be reviewed, edited and/or removed. iWitness News reserves the right to remove any of your contributions if iWitness News believes that they do not comply with the Terms.

5.3 You grant iWitness News the right to change or edit the materials in your contribution for operational and editorial reasons. iWitness News may also share your contribution with trusted third parties, for instance with other users of iWitness News’ services or, in the case of news-related material, iWitness News may share your contribution with its partners (for instance reputable local or foreign news broadcasters).

5.4 Any copyright in your contribution will remain with you and this permission is not exclusive, so you can continue to use the material you contribute in any way including allowing others to use it.

5.5 You confirm that your contribution is your own original work, is not defamatory or unlawful and does not infringe anyone else’s rights (including privacy rights) and that it complies with the Terms. You also confirm that your contribution is made in your personal (rather than business) capacity and that such contribution does not unfairly promote or further any business activities and has not been contributed for commercial gain. You also confirm that, where consent is necessary, you have the consent of anyone who is identifiable in your contribution or the consent of their parent/guardian if they are under 16.

5.6 We normally show your name with your contribution, unless you request otherwise, but for operational reasons this is not always possible.

5.7 iWitness News may need to contact you for administrative or verification purposes in relation to your contribution, or in relation to particular projects.

5.8 Please do not endanger yourself or others, take any unnecessary risks or break any laws when creating any content you may share with iWitness News.

5.9 As part of your contribution, iWitness News may ask you to provide some personal information. iWitness News will keep your personal information secure and will only use it for the purposes specified. All personal information held by iWitness News will be held in accordance with the terms of applicable data protection laws.

5.10 If you do not want to grant iWitness News permission to use your contributions in accordance with the Terms, please do not share with or submit them to iwnsvg.com.
