KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent: – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is not expected to return to his office for the rest of the work week.

His press secretary, Hans King, told I Witness-News on Wednesday that Dr. Gonsalves, who turns 63 on Aug. 8, “has been advised to rest for three days”, beginning on Tuesday.

Acting Prime Minister Mike Browne told Vincentians on Tuesday that Dr. Gonsalves was fatigued because of a hectic travel schedule recently.

“You know the prime minister. He goes non-stop and we have been asking him to take a vacation and I think it is at a point now where his body just simply needs a rest,” Browne said during a press conference that was broadcast live on national radio.

He said the prime minister’s condition was “essentially, fatigue”.

“It is nothing, as far as we are aware, graver than that. And I think he will be on his feet… It is not anything dramatic that we should be overly concerned about. And I think that the nation will be happy to know that he gets a little bit of a rest and a little bit of a time off. “

Browne said that the prime minister has postponed a trip to London that was slated for this weekend.
