KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent — Two women are dead and two males nursing wounds at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital after a shooting in Campden Park shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Police reports say George Franklyn of Campden Park allegedly shot and killed his wife Ingrid Jack-Franklyn and Hazel-ann James.

Simeon James was shot in the stomach while Desroy John was shot in and right foot. Both survived their injuries and were in hospital.

Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister Girlyn Miguel condemned the killing.

“This morning, our nation was thrown into mourning for the brutal murders which took placed in Campden Park. The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines condemns this gruesome act and sympathises with the families who lost their loved one,” the nation’s first female deputy prime minister said in a statement.

She assured Vincentians that “the perpetrators of this horrific act will be brought to justice.

“This statement is a reminder to those citizens who are lawless and think that the solution to any ill in society is to take the matter into their own hands to address their problems that they are so incorrect in their thinking.

“Our government will reinforce what is necessary to make our country secure and safe for all our citizens. May I remind us that it is wrong to take human life and it is also wrong to shed human blood. May we hold on together in love and be forgiving one to another as we live from day to day,” Miguel said.

Information reaching I Witness New Tuesday evening indicate that police in Kingstown were investigating the death of a man whose body was reportedly found in a latrine pit after being missing for about a month.
