KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – A Vincentian plot has been charged with several drug related offences in Barbados, the Nation newspaper has reported.

The man was identified as Keith Allen, 34, of Arnos Vale, who also lives in Christ Church, Barbados.

Allen, a pilot for regional carrier LIAT, is scheduled to appear before a Bridgetown magistrate to answer the charges against him.

He was allegedly caught with eight packages of marijuana while passing through the Grantley Adams International Airport Wednesday night.

He was taken into custody on Thursday and charged.

The Nation quoted Desmond Brown, LIAT Corporate Communications Manager as saying on Thursday that the regional airline was “aware that something has happened”, adding “We are awaiting further details before making a statement.”

At the time of publishing, Brown was yet to respond to an I-Witness News request for a comment on the development.

Allen is the second white-collar Vincentian to be charged with drug-related offences in Barbados in just over a month.

In October, Vincentian rural constable Alison Susan Louis, 44, was fined BD$175,000 (EC$236,250) after she was charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine, and importation of cocaine.
