KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace said on Monday that his hope is fading for a 78–year-old constituent who has not been seen since Dec. 26.

Two searches in East Kingstown on Jan. 7 failed to find Cane Garden resident Menaleus Jocelyn, better known as “Servant of the Lord”.

Jocelyn was seen on the night of Dec. 26 asking directions to Cane Garden, although he was on the Cane Garden road.

“I don’t think nobody, at least nobody who has spoken has seen or heard from him since. And it is really a tragic thing because you don’t know where he is,” Eustace, Member of Parliament for East Kingstown said on radio on Monday.

“You don’t know if he is alive or dead. And those of us who listen to him all the time on the radio, I am sure a lot of people have missed him. I have heard a lot of people calling in and expressing their concern on the radio and there is reason to be concerned after all this time,” Eustace added.

“It is quite a long time. But there is always a little hope but I will be very frank, my hope is fading,” Eustace said.

he was concerned that there has not been any news of the missing man.

“I have been in contact with his family throughout the whole season. As a matter of fact, I have been in contact with them from the very first day, Boxing Day, and there really is no clue as to what has happened to him, up to at least Saturday afternoon. I don’t think anything developed yesterday else I would have heard about it,” he said on Monday.

Eustace said one of Jocelyn’s neighbours telephoned him, expressing concern because Jocelyn was walking in the drain outside of his house.

The neighbour said Jocelyn was barefooted and dressed in what the neighbour said appeared to be boxer shorts and a long-sleeved shirt.

“And he (the neighbour) spoke to him (Jocelyn) about it and he said he was going to his home but he was in fact moving away from him home,” Eustace said.

He said that the neighbour recently had surgeries to his knees and could not walk to catch up with Jocelyn.

But Jocelyn, according to the information relayed by Eustace, turned back from the drain when he reached a culvert and went in the other direction but went pass his house.
