KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – A candidate in the December 2010 general election was Thursday in police custody in connection with a chopping incident, according to the state-owned National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

Reports are that Green Party executive member Joseph “Bongo Shines” Cain was at the Calliaqua Police Station in connection with the chopping of Ratho Mill resident Monty John.

John was in hospital after receiving a chop wound to the neck sometime after 6 a.m. Thursday.

Cain was the candidate for the minority Green Party in West Kingstown.
