KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – A man who was planning to get married next month fell to his death while painting a building in Paul’s Avenue around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Cecil Michael Baisden, a 49-year-old resident of Largo Height, died when he fell from the 100-foot SVG Tyre Sales & Services building owned by business man Leroy “Fly” Edwards.
Information reaching I-Witness News indicate that Helen Williams, Baisden’s fiancée and partner of 20 years, was in a store in Kingstown when their wedding planner conveyed the news of her fiancé’s death.
The couple have been living together for two years and Williams said at the scene — where Baisden’s body laid covered by a sheet — that he had cooked that morning and they had hugged and kissed before he left home.
Baisden, who began working with Edwards one day to the date of his death, was not wearing a harness while painting the building.
Photos of his body suggest that Baisden suffered extensive trauma to the head and several broken bones as a result of the fall.
Baisden is a former employee of R. C. Enterprises, where his former co-workers called him “Ice Man”.
