ST JOHN’S, Antigua – President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dr. Julian Hunte sent condolences to the wife and family of former St Vincent and Windward Islands player Frank Mason who passed recently.
“It is with regret and a deep sense of sadness that I sent condolences on behalf of the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies cricketing family to the wife and relatives of Frank Mason,” Hunte said.
“We hurt each time we lose a member of our cricketing fraternity, our deepest sympathies to his wife Kathleen and their three children,” he added.
“Frank was of tremendous service to cricket, sports and life in general particularly in his native St Vincent.”
Mason, a fast bowler, played three First Class matches for the Windward Islands. He captained both the Windwards and his native St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Following his retirement from the game he was the first president of the St. Vincent Umpires Association and also served as a football referee.
He worked as the Superintendent of Prisons in St Vincent.
Mason was 84 year old at the time of his passing.
