Twenty20 cricket action comes to the Arnos Vale Playing Field on July 27 and 28 as this country hosts two matches between the West Indies and Pakistan.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said that he recently held talks with Whycliffe “Dave” Cameron, president of the West Indies Cricket Board and Elson Crick, a WICB director.

“And I made several representations, both in respect of the need for us to get more games — I told him I am not going like how some other heads of government have gone and said that how we are not getting any games and other people getting games. I didn’t want it to sound like that.

“I said all I wanted to do was to see that I get a fair share of some games because we have so many facilities now in all the islands of test match status. And we have secured two Twenty20 games, West Indies versus Pakistan, taking place at Arnos Vale on July 27th and 28th. So, you can pencil in those dates,” Gonsalves told a press conference on Monday.

“I told them I want confirmation early, because I want to make some resources available to help to spruce up, make sure that the toilet facilities are working properly that we don’t have any broken things here and so on and so forth. You have to maintain the thing properly,” Gonsalves further said.

One reply on “SVG to host T20 matches in July”

  1. GONALVES are you going to repair all the pot holes in the roads into Kingstown? I will contact my dear friend Dave Cameron and ask him to come and look at our road and to consider the crime and safety problems that cricket tourists may well encounter in SVG.
