We were told that they knew when the airport would open, within a time frame of a few weeks or a few months anyway. You cannot possibly build an airport and not know when it will be finished or what it will cost, or can you?

If they have a plan they must know, otherwise they can never say what the final cost of the airport will be.

Just as they must by now know which blue chip airlines will be flying into Argyle.

If they have a plan they must know by now, otherwise they can never say how the flights will be arranged or managed.

Gonsalves said in November 2011 that airlines interested in flying to the Argyle airport didn’t want their competitors to know. I thought that airlines love to blow their trumpets, love to announce to the public and their investors of any up and coming new profitable route. What sort of crap are we being fed?

I they have a plan they must know by now exactly what airlines will be flying in. Surely you would not build an airport on a hope and a prayer? What if no airline wants to use the airport?

We have been told who our flag carrier will be: one of the worlds worst airlines, the Venezuelan airline Conviasa, recently banned from European airspace because of their safety record and failure to bring about acceptable corrective measures.

In April 2012, Conviasa Air was banned from European Union airspace and placed on the European black list because of “numerous safety concerns arising from accidents and the results of ramp checks at EU airports”.

In June 2013, Caracas announces that Europe is lifting the ban, and flights will resume to Europe. To date, there is no further news of that happening.

Now we know the PM isn’t a total prat, we all know the airport would not have been started without all the planning completed, wind studies, engineering studies, environmental studies, cost and funding studies, commitments from supporting airlines, business plans, funding lender commitments, written contracts with all parties.

WHY ARE WE WAITING?

I thought the Lyrics to the song “Why Are We Waiting” are appropriate.

I’m not a million miles from anywhere
But I’m a million miles from getting there
I need a focus just to get me up
So on the weekdays I just sleep a lot
I’m only comfortable pre-occupied
So I’m just looking for something to hide
When I open myself
I’m always me I am nobody else

Can’t blow the world up
Can’t burn the house down
And when I grow up
I won’t make a sound but just…

Why are we waiting
Why can’t we start changing
Why are we waiting
Always so frustrating
Why are we waiting
We need rearranging
Why are we waiting

I understand that breaking ties is hard
But should we really be a mile apart
What do you think that I am looking for
Why don’t you tell me cause I am getting bored
There is so much that I need to do
But I’m mechanical and so are you
We just look to the sun
We’re going nowhere but were on the run

Can’t blow the world up
Can’t burn the house down
And when I grow up
I will track you down and say…

Why are we waiting
Why can’t we start changing
Why are we waiting
Always so frustrating
Why are we waiting
We need rearranging
Why are we waiting

I had a life but it was swallowed whole
So i own nothing that could not be sold
I can’t remember if I had it planned
I chose the water when I made my stand

We’re just the same we talk like you
Not quite insane but getting there
Forgetting!

Why are we waiting
Why can’t we start changing
Why are we waiting
Always so frustrating
Why are we waiting
We need rearranging
Why are we waiting

If we drop the requisite that all aircraft be painted red, it may give us more options of which airlines to allow in, they will be lining up.

  1. I cannot agree more with you Peter…….
I have been to several 3rd world countries across the world, and an international airport has never brought gold, only debts…..
The near dictator Ralph E Gonsalves just wants a legacy for people to remember him by…and he will have it..the great grandchildren of the children today will still be endebtetted by this foolish undertaking !

  2. Patrick Ferrari says:

Peter, them people are reflexive liars. That is, to be sure, from the Oxford English Dictionary – “Reflexive adj. and n. Physiol. Of the nature of a reflex action; involving reflexes. In extended use: (of any action or response) automatic, unthinking, instnctive. Also: (of an agent) governed by reflexes, instinctive.”

What about some notes and a tune. That song go have to get sing.

  3. Hahahaa. Ten 400 seat jeat a day? Did the Prime minister real say that? If Vincentians believe that nonsense then they will believe anything

  4. PERHAPS BESIDES BEING A STATE SECRET, THE WHOLE THING IS BASED ON YET MORE LIES, THERE ARE NO AIRLINES COMMITTED EXCEPT THE VENEZUELA ONE, WHO NO ONE WITH A HALF A BRAIN WOULD FLY.

Besides I want to pre-book my return flights for later this year or early next year now, direct from Argyle to England, Miami, JFK and Toronto. So please let me have the airline list and phone numbers.

Just imagine how convenient it will be for the ULP to fly in all those Vincentians who do not live here and should not be on the voters list, to vote for them, free flights, free seats.

  5. I don’t want to be misunderstood, I want an international airport. What I don’t want is all the lies and ignorance that comes with it from our Cuba buff and worshiper.

The methodology used in funding was what I would describe as the work of a fiscal idiot. The continuing and increasing use of lies is becoming an international joke. I was recently asked in Panama, if I came from that little island whose leader is a serial liar.
