According to police, McDowall was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a mini bus, driven by Mark Ollivierre of Enhams.

The incident occurred on the Langley Park public road about 8:30 p.m.

The killing on Saturday brings to five the number of homicides over the past four weeks.

On July 29, Keland Gabriel, a 24-year-old resident of Redemption Sharpes, died after receiving a chop wound to chest.

That death came about 24 hours after Rodney Grant was found dead, shortly after a robbery of the Russell’s Cineplex.

Grant had a bullet wound to his face and five men have been charged with causing his death.

On Aug. 17, Alvin Hannaway, a 41-year-old construction worker of Sion Hill, was arrested and charged with the murder of Damari Miller, a 21-year-old conductor of Belair, “by stabbing him on the left side of his chest with a knife,” at Arnos Vale on Aug. 17.

Also on Aug. 17, Ian Gould, a 35-year-old farmer of Lowmans Leeward was arrested and charged with the murder of Owen Pompey, a 47-year-old farmer of Troumaca, by stabbing him about his body with a knife, at Morne Ronde Mountain on Aug. 12.

  1. This country is now registering one violent murder every week. We have adapted an insatiable appetite for violence. The new social education teaches our people that “gunshot ha fi bus:” and “no boy cyar violate”. A drastic situation demands a drastic response. This response merits a social origin since it is a social crisis; political pronouncements will be water in the proverbial basket

If our government is serious about making tourism a number one priority, domestic issue such as crime needs a significantly more proportion of the budget. I am a supporter of all the work the comrade has done but crime really needs more attention. Serious education of the 20 – 40yrs old age group should be one of the approach to crime reduction.

Crime in SVG seem to be a deterrent to people visiting the region and we need to change this image. We need to build our beautiful home, SVG.

  3. Something has to be done to stem the murder epidemic that is overwhelming the lives of people in SVG. It’s time for the politicians to act. This should have nothing to do with RED or Yellow card, because no one knows who would be next.
The politicians should not wait until one of the children, siblings, family or friend is the victim; before they react. Action is needed now to address these serious occurrences of murder in the island.
Ralph and Arnhim should both get involved to stem this tide of murders. They don’t want to be known as leaders of one of the world’s murder capitals. These murders have been going on for far too long and no action or reports were developed to help control these criminals. The blame here is with the government for not taking action and the opposition for not demanding some action to protect Vincentians.
The population has some blame here also. They have been silent on demanding actions for the various murders taking place in their midst. Are the people also waiting until one of the children, siblings, family or friend is the victim; before they react. This is the time to speak out; because if you are the victim, it would be too late.
Money spent to put an investigative committee together (of people from both parties and other interested persons) will be much cheaper that the expensive trials that could consume precious time to do something positive.

  4. I think the people of st.vincent needs a divine intervention ,People need to go back to God and put down the cell phones,People no longer walk with a testament anymore instead facebook ,wats app and internet is their God I think the older days were better to live than today. ,There were no telephone, cable, internet, face book you name it. There were no distractions, people use to play ring game , pitch marble , jump skipping rope, and all of that. Gone are those days. The love for one another has grown cold. Our country is definitely to small for such animalistic behaviors, all the senseless killings, robbing, and fighting should stop. Politics is killing our nation slowly, NDP trying to mash up ULP. That should never be like that, if both parties come together and form a united nation together it will be a better place.

It is always easier said than done, that the leaders of our little island should implement changes in Svg, however no such change will come about to STOP Enabling such Gruesome,Barbaric, and Senseless Acts if wthe People of SVG does Not Demand Safety and Security from their Leaders Present party in Power and also the Opposition. Its time Vincientians STOP FOCUSSING on A POLITICAL PARTY and START Focussing on the inventory OF BOTH MEN AND WOMEN WHO SEEM TO BE LOSING THEIR LIVES WHILE THE PETPS RECEIVE MINIMAL PUNISHMENT FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES AND THE VICTIMS AND THEIR LOVED ONES GETS NO JUSTICE. PITTBULLS AND OTHER VISCOUS ANIMALS ARE BEING PUT TO SLEEP FOR CAUSING BODILY HARM TO HUMANS AND OTHER DEFENSELESS ANIMALS SOME HUMANS RECEIVE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT BASED ON THE NATURE OF THE CRIME, WHY SHOULD THE BULLIES AND COWARDS OF SVG WHO CHOOSE TO RAPE WOMEN AND CHILDREN ,USE THEM AS PUNCHING BAGS, AND DECAPITATE ANOTHER MOTHER,DAUGHTER, SISTER, SON OR BROTHER BE EXCLUDED from Such Punishments.

  6. The gallows need to be put up for these fools. They need to be killed instantly instead of sitting in jail and living off of tax payers money. This is utter nonsense.

Why kill a woman in front of her children? Now the children have to live with that image and without their mother, wickedness. This is craziness on the highest level. The government should make sure they the killer is brought to justice and be punished to the fullest extent.

I’ve been saying BRING BACK HANGING SINCE 2006 WHEN MY COUSIN WAS BEHEADED IN KINGSTOWN BY A FAMILY MEMBER. I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE ESPECIALLY IN A CASE WHERE THERE WERE EYEWITNESSES. WHAT ARE WE PUTTING THESE MURDERERS IN JAIL FOR? GET RID OF THEM AND MAKE ROOM FOR THE THIEVES. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE SAY THEY DON’T BELIEVE IN CAPITAL PUNISHMENT BUT WAIT UNTIL IT’S A CLOSE MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY THAT IS MURDERED IN THIS SENSELESS MANNER THEN TALK TO ME!!!
