  1. You see this is what I feared, asking for things in excess of what we lost and what the situation requires.

These items are all the items that the hospital was short of before the disaster. All things that the Marxist government failed to previously to supply in the normal run of things.

Then to slip in a huge item like a CT Scan machine. Its no wonder that Trinidad is wary of what they send, and certainly not money.

What people need is 1,000 water gallon tanks, in ground plastic sewage tanks, lumber, plywood, galvanise, cement and rabbaca stuff, sewage pipes and fittings, water piping and fitting and glue to but them together with. They also need buckets, mops brooms, sheets and lightweight blankets, pillows, mattress’s.

But most importantly they need temporary accommodation, food and lots of bottled water.

NEMO if you want to do something positive, send contractors up to Congo Valley, Mountain Top Water and repair the roads that were washed away. Get the bottled water moving so as the people can get supplies. This should be a priority matter, stop sitting on your hands and earn your salary that you sit about most of the year to earn.

Yes we need hospital items but we did before this happened, the ULP government failed to supply the service properley for the longest time.

We need to stop the electioneering and do what I have done, cleared my cupboards of canned food and my wardrobes of clothes. Sent it all down yesterday.

Time to stop all the dramatic political play acting and get down to some serious action.

Please cut all the bollocks out.

  3. Why not commandeer all the empty cottages and villas at Buccament and put the people in them. The wooden fence that already goes across the site can be moved to segregate the people from the tourists. Seeing as Dave Ames is now a Vincentian, I am sure he will be happy to oblige.

  4. This is NEMO’s shopping list. I am sure the folks who lost everything have another list. That’s why the money should go directly to them – Industrial Washing machines and dryers, generators, hospital record supply. Are these the things the old lady, sitting in-front of her, house needs right now? I don’t think so!
At the end of this; the folks who really need help will see little, after those unnecessary items are bought. Organizations like the Salvation Army always addresses the real needs of the people in any crisis. I have no idea if NEMO is looking at the same situation. Oh! they probably need the diapers to cover their mouths.

  5. I am a Pensioner and would donate clothing but I cannot afford to buy new clothing so the slightly used clothing that I was going to donate to this crisis in MYCOUNTRY I will gladly donate it to the Children’s Wish Foundation as they accept lightly used clothing. Many people in this Country shops at Value Village or the Thrift Store because they cannot afford new clothing and in a crisis like this anything should be acceptable as long as it serves the purpost

    1. Member of Rapid Relief Team says:

I have lived in SVG for 15 years and know from personal experience that persons in need are THRILLED to receive used clothes. We appreciate the generosity of any that would donate used clothes. Thanks.

  6. NEMO, Please wake up. I donate my used clothing to Goodwill and the Salvation Army in the US and they accept them with open arms. Please remove ( NEW ) it’s absurd. My country is in crisis so clothing in any form should be accepted.
