An investigation has been launched into the death of a Byera man who passed away after being shot by police Wednesday morning, Commissioner of Police Michael Charles told I-Witness News on Thursday.

Dead is Rohan “Boyin” Lette, said to be in his early 30s.

“He was behaving rather strangely yesterday morning, throwing missiles (objects) on houses and people,” the police chief told I-Witness News.

“The police were called; he did the same to the police, and in order to disarm him, he was shot. Unfortunately, he died at the Georgetown hospital,” Charles further said.

He, however, told I-Witness News that he was not in a position to say how many times the deceased was shot.

Police from Colonarie and Georgetown had responded to the call.

Charles said head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sydney James has been instructed to appoint an officer to lead an investigation into the shooting.

Did the man have a gun, NO. So why shoot him, sticks and stones may break your bones but name will never hurt you.

Same old story ” we will hunt them down until they exist no more”

There are numerous reasons people can lose it in an environment like we are in in SVG today but has now seems to be common practice to shoot people during arrests as nothing comes out of it.

How many men with mental issues have been shot dead by police in the past 5 years?
What type of training are these people afforded?
Who is keeping record of these men who shoot to kill?
Is this in fact a new type of death penalty being institutionalized in SVG?
Where is the so called Human Rights Association or even the Churches?
