Devon Nichols of Grenada is expected to reappear before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Monday for trial on charges of breaching the immigration regulation of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Nichols appeared before the court last Monday and pleaded not guilty to charges of entering the state of St Vincent and the Grenadines by boat as an immigrant without passport between May 29 and June 18, 2014, and entering the state by boat and disembarking at Barrouallie between the said dates without the consent of an immigration officer.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The Grenadian did not have a lawyer representing him but he has already advanced a reason for being on Vincentian soil.
He told the court that two Grenadian men held him at gunpoint and demanded from him $3,000 thathe owed them. After he failed to give them the money, they dropped him off at Barrouallie and left him there, he said.
When asked why he did not report the matter to the police, he did not give any answer.
Nichols is on remand.
