Vincentian husband and wife Norris Allen and Almira “Patsy” Cooper-Rogers, residents of Brooklyn, New York, were last month honoured by local and regional politicians of the City of New York for their service to their community, longstanding contributions to the neighbourhood and for being overall exemplary good citizens.

The honours came as the couple also celebrated their retirement and birthdays.

They received four awards in recognition of their sterling and exemplary contribution and dedication to their profession and their community. Together, these two Vincentians have accumulated decades of loyal and dedicated services to the City of New York and the community in which they reside.

During that time, Allen worked as a supervisor at JFK International Airport for 18 years whist his wife Cooper-Rogers worked for 29 years at the Centre for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn.

They have now retired from civil service in the City of New York. However, because of Cooper-Rogers’s love for serving others, she continues to do volunteer work twice per week at the Kings Brook Nursing Home and River Manner Nursing Home. She also volunteers in her community, working with the less fortunate.

To cap off the celebration a big backyard bash was thrown at the couple’s residence in Brooklyn, where they thanked their family, friends, and co-workers in attendance.

Guests were treated to a variety of sumptuous Vincentian and American delicacies and the guest and the couple feted the night away.
