Police are investigating as a suspected homicide the discovery of a partly decomposed body in Vermont on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Trevor Bailey of the Major Crime Unit told I-Witness News on Monday that his unit strongly believes that the body is that of Sylvanus “Gunto” Robinson.

The 53-year-old agriculture worker was reported missing on Tuesday, two days after he was last seen.

Several searches of the mountains where Robinson worked rearing cattle for another villager were fruitless.

Bailey told I-Witness News that the identity of the body is expected to be established when the post mortem is conducted on Tuesday.

Police were summoned to the Queensbury, Vermont after a farmer reported a foul smell.

The Finch-Slater family of Vermont on Monday reserved comment to I-Witness News, pending confirmation that the body discovered is in fact that of Sylvanus Robinson.

If the death of the individual found on Saturday is confirmed as a homicide, it will be the second killing in the agricultural district this year.
