I am not a political scientist nor a strategist, but a young undecided, unemployed Vincentian.
I have listened to the two major political parties to help me decide who to vote for. St Vincent and the Grenadines belongs to all of us and I want the best for my country. I sat and listen to Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace and his party, and, to be fair, they have laid out plans upon plans to take us forward. I also listened closely to Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and his party but all I hear is an ongoing rant about the NDP, and it reminds me of a quote by a famous U.S. president “If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.” — Barack Obama in 2008.
That is exactly what the ULP is doing. I am sick of hearing that Vincentians don’t want to move backwards and only the ULP can move the country forward, but I am not hearing how the ULP will move us forward.
For the past weeks on the ULP radio programmes, convention and 14th-anniversary celebration, the only thing the ULP is doing is to paint the NDP as a horror movie. Weeks about Leacock removing wreaths from the obelisk. I am not in agreement with Leacock doing that, but at the same time, it’s as if they were so happy that he did that and then it was on; day and night it’s about Leacock, nothing about what will happen during the ULP’s 4th term. This makes no sense for a ruling party and a party who makes themselves out as the only alternative.
On April 16, 2015, I listened to “Shake Up” with Elson Crick and Frank Da Silva and it was all about Ben Exeter, who, instead of saying “children”, said “childrens”. Like really? At present, the ULP has no substance only style. Each and every rally is like a party and what the NDP did or the NDP said. I want to hear from the “phenomenal leader” what will be happening in the country in the next five years. When will the airport be finished? What youth programmes do you have? How are you going to tackle the national debt? What will happen with healthcare? When will we get our roads fixed? How are you going to increase tourism? How will you revive agriculture? That’s what I want to know; don’t tell me that Eustace pulls down St. Vincent every day or Cummings stone church. Bring the issues.

Otsari, thank you for your opinion letter. It is most refreshing to know that there are young people out there who can recognise the true situation and be able to have an opinion on such.
While NDP has neither style nor substance, hence the reason they’ll be in opposition for yet another term.
Forget the silly comments that the ULP are paying to implant as comments on every page posted that highlights the wrongs. They are employed to try and convince the readers that your right is wrong and their wrong is right.
Employed? maybe this is your weak little attempt at self projection? because it seems this website is filled with chucklesome pieces written by simpletons EMPLOYED by the NDP. Every day it’s a new negative piece and anyone with common sense can tell what’s going on. But like I said the NDP lacks both style and substance and that’s the very reason they’ll remain where they’ve always been after this up coming election, IN OPPOSITION.
The problem i’ve always had with the ULP is that there is no such thing as a free speaking Independent, it’s either 100% support or you automatically part of the NDP.
(also, sad they don’t even acknowledge the DRP or Green Party).
I am glad that Vincentians are figuring them out. I have been saying that for a long time, they are not doing anything to setup the country to make people independent. All they are talking about is what they are building with our money. No agriculture, no tourism, nothing. All they do is talk and talk. They are not a party of doers they are a party of talkers.
