The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) will host another CONCACAF sponsored Grassroot Course from today (Thursday) to Sunday.

A release from the SVGFF said that some 25 selected participants will attend the programme which will be conducted by instructor Vin Blaine from Jamaica.

The COCACAF website says the main goal of this CONCACAF initiative is to empower the region through individual member development.

The course will provide the Grassroots coaches with specialized training for boys and girls from the ages 6 to 12 years old.

The participants attending the course will be taken through some of the main aims of the of drassroots initiative, while also going through theoretical and practical training.

The sessions will be conducted in a classroom setting with coaches being taken outdoors to display the practical aspect of the course.

President Venold Combs said that the hosting of the course underlines the SVGFF’s commitment to development at all levels.

Coombs also pointed out that FIFA Development Officer for the Eastern Caribbean, Howard McIntosh paid a one-day visit to the state where he looked at upcoming projects such as the administrative centre for which he said monies have already been earmarked by FIFA to assist with the project.

The president said a “home for football” is also being looked at this juncture.

He said that as president it is his intention to develop both resources and infrastructure while in office and will not be distracted by those who are involved in mischief and set out to derail the process.

“I am seeking to make football and footballers get the respect of people here and abroad that is my goal, not to benefit [personally] from this sport,” he said during a break from his intense discussion just after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the SVGFF will be hosting the 2015 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under 20 Qualifiers from this Sunday at the Victoria Park beginning at 5 p.m.

A release from the CFU said Qualifying games started on June 19 and will end July 30, during which time the preliminary rounds will be played in four groups in four countries namely Puerto Rico, St Lucia, Dominican Republic and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The SVG Group 4 will feature Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago and host SVG.

The teams in Group 1 are hosts Puerto Rico, Anguilla, Curacao, and Antigua and Barbuda. In Group 2 there are Grenada, St Lucia (hosts) and defending champions Jamaica. Group 3 consists of hosts Dominican Republic, Bermuda, and St Kitts and Nevis.

On Sunday’s opening day, Trinidad and Tobago will take on host SVG from 5 p.m. and on Tuesday, Dominica will engage Trinidad and Tobago with SVG taking on Dominica in Wednesday’s final game.

The Final Rounds will be played in two groups A and B from Oct. 16 to 25 in Haiti from which three teams will advance to compete in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship set for December of this year.
