The ruling Unity Labour Party held a major election campaign rally at Rabacca on Sunday but there was no announcement of the date for the next general elections as some citizens had hoped.

The party will seek an unprecedented fourth consecutive term in office when Vincentians go to the polls in elections constitutionally due in March 2016.

However, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has said he will call the elections before year-end.

At Sunday’s rally, someone in the crowd told Gonsalves that they were ready for the election date.

“A know yo’ ready fuh vote. Ah know yo’ wah me ring de bell, but ah want Arnhim sweat a little bit,” Gonsalves said.

“He listening to me tonight yo’ know,” Gonsalves said of Eustace, who has led the main opposition New Democratic Party to three electoral defeats, although the party gained an additional four seats in ten 2010 elections.

“Ah go leave it ‘til last,” Gonsalves said in reference to the election date.

“Ah want he sweat through this speech. Ah want him listen to this. He will listen to hear who is the boss. He would listen to hear who is the prime minister. Ah want him and all of them to hang on to every word I will say here tonight,” Gonsalves said of Eustace and the NDP.

But there was no announcement of the election date at the of Gonsalves’ 62-minute speech.

“If they thought that tonight I was going to ring the bell, get set!” Gonsalves told party supporters.

“At the convention, I told you to be on your marks,” he said in reference to the command he gave party supporters since February 2014.

“Tonight, I say to you, get set! Get set and wait until comrade Ralph says go. And I tell you this, if they believe that I going give them a long time like how Kamla give Rowley long time, nah, nah, nah – in Trinidad,” Gonsalves said.

“Short! And every farmer knows, it ain’t long rope does kill cattle you know. Short rope does kill cattle. Short rope does hang cattle and I going give them a short rope. A short rope!” Gonsalves said, reusing an analogy from his February 2014 speech.

      Peter,
I see you have hopes for that LAZY Eustace to govern. I wonder what you’ll gain.

      You selfish dog.

Keep hoping my friend, perhaps you’ll tell the truth one day.

  1. Luther Bonadie says:

Easy now Comrade, You may give Eustace a hearth attack, to much pressure.

If that LAZY Eustace don’t wake up, he’ll be ashamed to walk in Kingstown for the rest of his life.

May be he’ll go to Belize, and do some dirt cleansing with that obeah man Ramos.

    1. We can all just pray that when the election does come that we get rid of Ralph. The people are going to feel the economic destruction of his borrowing for hundreds of years!

      1. Luther Bonadie says:

        Lostpet,

I can see that you are lost, maybe you are Eustace’s lost pet.
Let’s hope you remain lost for hundreds of years.

        Shew pet !!

  2. You are not the prime minister,You are the king and if you could have gotten the option you would have choosen to put off this election because you know ULP losing this one big time. That is why you cant call it up to now.Like you are confused.Time is running out.It is close to or more than two years now since you all had some kind of celebration event in Barrouallie and you said that you are giving NDP a short rope.Well this is a very short long rope.I believe that you are the one having cold sweat now.Not the NDP.Is only a few months left to call the date so please get vex or brave and announce the date. The power that you once have is rapidly slipping out of your hands and you know it that is why so much hate and venom is emitting from your mouth. Please mind you bust a vein or have a heart attack.

  3. The entire island is sweating. They can’t wait to get rid of Ralph and his 2 by 4 crew. That’s how vindictive he is. He doesn’t want to pass over the government in a peaceful and orderly manner. Come to think about it, Ralph is also sweating. He knows he is will lose the election. The longer he delays ringing the bell, the more bad things happen on his watch. What excuse will he hatch, to explain why a building a few yards away from the Fire house was destroyed? When there is a fire, every available fire truck should head in that direction.
Ironically this incident has added more people to the unemployment list for some time.

  4. Comrade that rope is to hang your sorry arse! You will not be able to visit every village and town in the 14 constituencies to ask the people to vote for Ralph and his successor Camillo. You will have to send your arse lickers to face the people and they will want to know where these dummies were for the last 4 years.
In Central Leeward you have Louis, who has no connection with the people after he tried to sell them out with the Bigut water. Then there is Jomo who you parachuted in South Leeward after removing the candidate most folks wanted. James is promising to fly tri-tri straight to the US and Canada via Argyle. His hope was based on your false prophet idea, like the one that got Ken and KFC into trouble. […] an entire family [because the road in Leeward wasn’t fixed]. What have you done for those folks for the last 10 years?
You started talking about the renovation to the Leeward highway about 5 years ago. You bragged that you had the funds, yet you only started it a few months ago and travelling on the Leeward road has been a pain in the arse. I believe you want to torment the Leeward people because they refuse to vote for your arse lickers. Then you brought in your son and removed a dummy, so he could run in that constituency. Linton will take him to the cleaners because he’s no Vincentian. Ramos has more claim to SVG that you foreign son. How could you be talking about reparation (you and Jomo) and at the same time complaining about giving honorary citizenship to the ancestors of SVG first freedom fighters? Nobody can trust you Mr. PM, especially since the crime rate has increased drastically on your watch. […] Your entire camp and government is full of Alibaba.
Just ring the damn bell and give peace a chance!
