One of our readers in Chateaubelair sent us these photos on Tuesday of yachties disembarking their dinghy at the jetty in the North Leeward town.

“This is how the tourists come up on the wharf,” the person said, adding, “The wharf needs to be fixed.”

As can be seen from the photos, the wharf is in urgent need of repair.

In its manifesto for the December 2015 general elections, the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) listed “Reconstruction of Chateaubelair Jetty” among a summary of the “Major Roads, ‘Special Feeder Roads/Village Roads Project’, and Coastal Defence Projects” for which it said the ULP administration had already secured funding for implementation in the period 2016-2020.

The reconstruction of the jetty, the party said, is to take place between 2016 and 2017.

“These projects amount in the aggregate to over EC$400 million,” the party said, adding that they also include several other capital road projects, including village roads, through the Ministry of Works, and repair/rehabilitation of roads, not listed in the manifesto, but to be carried out by the state agency charged with such works, BRAGSA.

  1. You all need to understand that all the promises that were made prior to the election and even many projects listed in the budget will never be undertaken they simply do not have the money now and after the airport opens we will be even poorer as they try and fund the running cost’s from a close to nil income.

The Unity Liars Party have struck again.
