A Vincentian who is based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is launching in her home country a line of natural beauty products that she created about three years ago.
For the past three years, entrepreneur and small business owner Alicia Bibby-Joseph of AJ Body Works has been working on creating her natural body wellness products line.
Bibby-Joseph, who grew up in Barrouallie and Largo Height, said she was inspired by the desire to create a natural product line for men and women.
AJ Body Works uses the best ingredients possible, such as olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, lemongrass, vitamin e, sweet almond oil, castor oil and other natural ingredients to create natural body lotion, body wash, hair cream and soy candles, the Intermediate High School graduate said.
She told iWitness News that the natural ingredients distinguish her products from others on the market.
“All personal care products are manufactured with care in small batches to ensure consistency, effectiveness and top quality. Chemical, perfume and colour free products are very important choices today because of concerns related to allergic reactions and other health problems,” Bibby-Joseph said.
“AJ Body Works creates natural products that won’t harm customers and that helps to promote a positive and healthy lifestyle.
“If you care about what you put on your body, as we do at AJ Body Works then these products are made for you,” she said.
“I have used a lot of body products and was dissatisfied with the some of the results. AJ Body Works is about creating a unique blend of natural and beauty environmentally friendly products for men and women.”
The products are already on the market in the BVI and Bibby-Joseph is launching them in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
She said that initially persons in SVG would have to order the products online.

Too bad she is doing this on another island nation and not SVG. It cannot be done successfully in SVG mainly because of our high taxes and duties. The difficulty and cost of exporting products from small business in SVG makes it almost impossible. The small population means too few consumers to allow a business with specialty products to be sustainable. The SVG government has to one day show leadership and acknowledge these facts and adjust the tax and customs duty structure accordingly so that small businesses can survive and grow, but,…don’t hold your breath, instead they just make it worse.
