Student animators from the National Centre of Technological Innovation scored top points at the Northern Caribbean University Lignum Vitae Film Festival on Sunday.
Their animated production, “Monster: A Survivor’s Tale,” tied for first place with “Frames”, a competing animated short. The animated short highlighted the issue of domestic abuse.
The students belonged to the historic first group of animators to be trained in St. Vincent and the Grenadines facilitated by the CARCIP programme.
Animation instructor David Martin coached the team of four students: Ansil Quow, Shaun Millington, Solomoy Munroe and Ryan Westfield.
“I’m just glad that our work got so far and people liked it,” said Quow, lead animator on the project.
“It was hard work but good going as deadlines were tight,” Millington, the audio engineer, commented.
“With talent like this I see a grand future for animation in St. Vincent,” Martin said as he encouraged more young people to get into the field.
