On a day where all games were affected by rain and on a difficult batting surface, the French Verandah SVG Community College got passed Bryanston school of England by 5 wickets and in so doing qualified for the semifinals the 2017 Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament, with one preliminary game yet to play.

The Community College called correctly at the toss and inserted Bryanston School in what started as a 35-over affair. The English unit reached 98 for 5 after 30 overs when rain stopped play and ended their innings.

Opener Harrison Clarke 30 and middle order batters Frank Turrill and Ollie Thomas 26 and 20 not out respectively, got amongst the runs for Bryanston.

Off spinners Roshorn John 3 for 12 from 7 overs and Jerremy Haywood 1 for 11 in 7 overs, bowled well for the SVG Community College team.

Play after lunch was further delayed due to rain, after which the Vincentians were set 67 to win in 20 overs. The French Verandah SVG Community College lost 5 wickets in getting to 67 in 11.4 overs. Opener Alex Samuel led the way with 27 not out.

Medium pacer Harrison Clarke picked up 2 for 24 bowling for Bryanston School.

Following Wednesday’s rest day, French Verandah SVG Community College is playing game seven of the preliminary round today (Thursday) against the Presentation College of Trinidad.
