The 11th Taiwan Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH) medical team to visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines will return home on Friday after an 18-day stint in the country.

They were welcome to the country by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves and Minister of Health Luke Browne.

Gonsalves welcomed the team, the first CCH to touch down at the Argyle International Airport, which opened on Feb. 14, and appreciated the valued cooperation between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Meanwhile, Browne also stressed the importance of mutual collaboration in medical fields for the benefits of Vincentian patients.

The team was comprised of pathologist, Dr. Kun-tu Yeh, chief pharmacist Sock-ping Ng, emergency room physician, Dr. Tren-yi Chen, intensive care unit nurse Sr. Hsiu-tzu Hsu and emergency room nurse Sr. Hsin-hui Tseng. With the arrangement by Sr. Grace Walters, hospital administrator, the medical team worked closely with different departments and exchanged views on medical treatments during their stay at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Especially, in order to deepen the bonds between the CCH and Vincentian patients, the CCH chief pharmacist Sock-ping Ng promoted the medication administration by introducing “5 Rights” to the patients at the pharmacy in the MCMH.

She said these 5 Rights are “Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Route, Right Dose and Right Time.” It is important to follow these five steps in order to keep patients safe and prevent harm. Her introduction gained positive feedbacks from patients.

The team stayed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from July 10 to July 28. All the members are appreciative of the assistance provided by the Ministry of Health and the MCMH, the Taiwan Embassy in Kingstown said in a statement.

“They also had the unforgettable experience of participating the 40th Vincy Carnival,” embassy further said, adding that CCH will be sending its next team to SVG between November and December 2017.
