Head of the Department of Government, Sociology and Social Work at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, Tennyson Joseph will today, Thursday deliver a lecture in Kingstown on the topic, ‘“Any Cook Can Govern: Plato, Donald Trump, and the rise of Caribbean Businessmen Politicians”.
The lecture is the second in a series organised by the University of the West Indies Open Campus, and LegalEase SVG Incorporated in the series, Issues in International Affairs.
The lecture takes place at 7 p.m. at Frenches House in Kingstown.
Tennyson Joseph is a St. Lucian, who currently resides in Barbados.
Since 2003, he has been a lecturer in political science at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, and he serves as Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Government, Sociology, Social Work.
Joseph’s master’s degree focused on the political thought of CLR James — a Trinidadian historian, journalist and socialist — and his doctorate on the politics of decolonisation under globalisation in St. Lucia.
His current research efforts are linked to his public engagements and revolve around resisting the reversal of the independence project, and defending social democracy in the current moment of neo-liberal reversal.
The topic upon which he has been invited to speak by the Open Campus forms part of his ongoing research effort at showing how neo-liberal ideas are resulting in the unmaking of the post-colonial order and reshaping Caribbean politics and governance.
The lecture is open to the public.

I do not think the sorry state of the USA has as much to do with Trump as the brainless claim. In the Financial arena Obama was clearly the worse President in US History. If Hillary had made it she is possibly the most corrupt human on earth. Bush and Obama started so many wars. But it seems clear now that they may not have been mainly responsible. The “Deep State” “War Party” seems to be the entity causing all the aggression and bloodshed, not the office of the president.
Trump is at least 100-times more intelligent in Economics that Bush and Obama combined but it seems the president has little power as we may think.

would advise you to do a more indepth study of the American System of Government , before making comments .
Let me give you two examples , President Barack Obama was in Office for 8 years . However during the last 6 of those 8 years , the Republicans were in
Control of both the Senate & the House of Representatives .
In essence President Obama was hamstrung by the fact that After his first two years on Office , the Republican Party was in control of the two Legislative Branches of Congress , and they bluntly refused to cooperate with
what President Obama wanted to do .
The second example that I will cite is the fact that President Obama nominated a Candidate to be on the Supreme Court , The Chairman of the
Senate , Republican Mitch Mc Connell , bluntly refused to have a vote on President Obama’s nominee to become a Member of the Supreme Court .
Now this had never ever happened before in the History of America . You apparently , admire the Republicans who were afraid to give President Obama’s nominee and Up or Down .

The current Economy in the USA , has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump ; Interestingly , The President of the USA , is
a Republican ; The U.S Senate is controlled by the Republican Party ; and the House of Representatives is controlled by the Republican Party .
In essence they are in control of two of the 3 branches of Government , The Legislative Branch & the Presidency , yet
despite this :
THEY FAILED TO REPEAL THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT
AKA OBAMACARE ; WHICH WAS & IS A STINGING DEFEAT .
BECAUSE THEY WERE IN CONTROL OF THE LEGISLATIVE
BRANCHES OF THE USA GOVERNMENT .
The fact is that President Obama had that same luxury for only
two years , but this freaking fact seems to have escaped many
people ; including You .
