A Layou van driver has been fined EC$400 for carrying 31 passengers in a minivan licensed to carry 14 passengers.

Terrance Cuffy denied the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday but was found guilty after a trial.

The incident occurred on Feb. 1, 2017 at the Mt Wynne Public Road, while Curry was driving HV744.

He was ordered to pay the fine forthwith or spend two months in prison.

Cuffy was also found guilty of operating an omnibus without a licensed conductor.
