Thieves broke into the Cane Hall office of the Roads Bridges and General Services Authority (BRAGSA) last week.
Minister of Works, Sen. Julian Francis, who has ministerial responsibility for BRAGSA, said that the thieves made off with EC$798.
He told a press conference in Kingstown on Monday that he is convinced that persons were inspired to target the state agency because they heard about the amount of money that was allocated to it recently.
Francis said that the thieves might have believed that the money was in a safe at BRAGA’s office in Cane Hall.
BRAGSA is in the midst of executing an EC$13.7 million road repair programme and an EC$1.4 million school repairs initiative.
