October in St. Vincent and the Grenadines began by mirroring the bloody conclusion of September, a month in which the nation recorded nine homicides, and four persons surviving shooting injuries.

The latest homicide victim is Calvert Pierre, a 42-year-old labourer of Kelbourney.

He was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Belmont on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Police say that reports are that Pierre sustained gunshot wounds about his body and succumbed to his injuries.

His death brings SVG’s homicide count this year to 32, according to police figures.
