Western Carollers completed a hat trick when it won the senior category of the Police Co-operative Credit Union Police Christmas Carolling Competition in Kingstown on Friday.

A large crowd of enthusiastic supporters and well wishers turned up at Central Police Station to witness the competition.

Western Carollers was joined in winner’s row by Petit Bordel Police Youth Club, who won the junior element of the competition.

The senior competition, which was keenly contested, had eight choirs participating.

This is the fifth time that Western Carollers are winning the prized trophy. They emerged winners in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

In Friday’s competition, they sang “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” in the traditional category and “Western Come Town” in the original category.

They also walked away with the “Best Traditional Song” and “Best Speech” titles.

Traffic Angles won second placed and also clamped the Best Original song title.

Third place winners, Auxiliary Caroller.

Auxiliary Carollers took the third spot and Best Turned Out Choir.

Meanwhile, in the junior’s competition, Questelles Police Youth Club came in second with Paget Farm Police Youth carollers placing third. Six choirs competed in this segment.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Renold Hadaway and members of the RSVGPF extended congratulations to the winners and commended very highly the members of the public for such a large turn out to the event.
