Taiwan has presented cheques to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the value of US$1.275 million.

On Thursday, Taiwan Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Baushuan Ger, presented three cheques to Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves in Kingstown.

Of the amount donated, EC$280,000 is for the purchase of equipment and a vehicle for the Inland Revenue Department.

A further EC$460,000 will be used to purchase equipment for the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

  1. Can someone explain the presence of Taiwan in St.Vincent and the Grenadines? Generally, there is the premise of mutual benefit-from a geopolitical standpoint…Is there basis for reciprocity? I have a hunch there is something untowards,yet I am ignorant of the facts
