  1. These demeaning Carnival contests continue to be one of the main forces in our society fostering the degradation of women by reducing them to boobs-and-battie playthings only good enough for satisfying the licentious desires of men.

It is also a political safety-valve institution aimed at diverting the attention of the masses from their own miseries and the inability of the state to solve the myriad of social and economic problems we face on a daily basis.

  3. Come on Ben-David!!!!! Many of these women have gone on to be good citizens with bright future. Why is this demeaning? It is sad that many so-called educated fools don’t realize their words are just as destructive as their actions. Congratulations to the winner and all who participated.

  4. It appears that the judges favour a particular aesthetic for the evening gown category. The same dress has won ‘best evening gown’ for a number of years…minus a flounce here or there or a shorten or long skirt variety…

Since this is the case, all future contestants now know the generic frame…embellish to your heart desire so that we will judge base on colour complement, assesories, poise etc.!!!
