Further highlighting the importance of healthy living continues to be of great significance for officials in the North Leeward health district.

Over 100 adolescents attended a two-day workshop last week, organised by Family Nurse practitioner Julia Haywood, focused on areas such as personal hygiene, nutrition, self-esteem, abuse, peer pressure and STDs.

Haywood said the workshop was held under the theme “Healthy Bodies, Richer Lives”, adding that it is significant for the participants to be educated on the wide aspects of health and the importance of healthy lifestyles.

The workshop catered to Grade 6 students of all the schools in the North Leeward constituency.

Haywood stated that the workshop was a great success as the students were receptive of the information and participated in the various activities.

She added that the students who have recently completed their Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) complained that the workshop had ended too soon.

Meantime, Flow’s Marketing and Communications lead, Nikala Williams said that the opportunity to support the North Leeward health district was a timely one, as she believes that the students are venturing a critical time in their lives.

Williams added that she is adamant that the youths of SVG must be saved and she is happy that Flow has done its part in helping to instil the right information to guide them through life.
