Longstanding Digicel customer Deryck Bushay was all-smiles on Tuesday after taking home the biggest grocery-shopping haul of his life.
The father of three qualified for the supermarket shopping spree after participating and winning in Digicel’s Text to Win Promotion for August.
The promotion saw both prepaid and postpaid customers texting “SPIN” to 6789 for a chance to win.
Having been ranked number one at midnight on Aug. 31, Bushay automatically won the grand prize of a $1,500 supermarket sweep at the Sunrise Supermarket in Arnos Vale.
On the day of the shopping spree Bushay was given two minutes to get as many items as possible in his shopping cart; at the end of the allotted time Bushay had only picked up items totalling $599.
However, Digicel’s Marketing Executive, Jamisha Wright, allowed the winner to go back into the supermarket aisles to pick up all that he wanted in order to fully maximise the EC$1,500 spend.
Wright congratulated Bushay, saying, “All Digicel promotions are designed to make customers feel as happy and satisfied as he is. It’s always rewarding to give back and see customers being given the opportunity to win things they truly need and appreciate.”
The Vermont man said this is his third time winning in the Text to Win promotion, explaining that he first won EC$2,000, then $1,500 in cash. Bushay, who works as a security guard said: “The groceries could not have come at a better time, after spending so much money to ensure my kids have all they need for back to school. As the breadwinner of your family, you need help sometimes and Digicel was here to help me this time. Thank you, Digicel.”
