Police are investigating the death, on Tuesday, of a Lowmans Hill man whose body was found in the West Kingstown community sometime after he and others reportedly came under gunfire.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, acting Commissioner of Police Colin John said:

“We received information that a group of men were coming from the mountain in Lowmans. They were attacked by someone who had a firearm. Shots were fired at the group, persons dispersed and they later went back to the scene and discovered that one of the persons was dead.

“The police are investigating. The name given for the person is one Lennox John, alias Percy of Lowmans Hill. The police, we, are investigating that matter.”

The Police Public Relations Department, in their regular bulletin on Wednesday, said John was a 53-year-old farmer.

His death brings the homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for this year to 30.

In August, as he gave insights into his crime-fighting plan, John expressed hope that the homicide count this year will not go past 30.

On Wednesday, he noted that police have charged nine persons in connection with the last 11 homicides in the country.

Police are soliciting the assistance of members of the public who have information that will assist in its investigations to contact the criminal investigations department at 1784-456-1810.
