The Ralph Gonsalves government said on Thursday that it was “monitoring closely the disturbing events unfolding” in Venezuela “and is very concerned about the increasingly volatile situation in the country.
“We condemn all forms of violence and urge all parties to desist from those acts which aim to destabilise the Venezuelan society,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
On Tuesday, Venezuela’s opposition leader, Juan Guaidó declared what he called the “final phase” of the operation to topple President Nicolas Maduro.
He posted a video of him with a number of
men in uniform and said he had the support of “brave soldiers” in
Caracas, the BBC report.
The BBC said that both pro- and anti-government supporters held demonstrations
in Caracas on Wednesday in which 46 people were injured in clashes between
opposition supporters and the security forces.
The statement said that St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) “maintains its principled stance that dialogue based on mutual respect and adherence to international law is the only path to peace and progress in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, however difficult that path may be.
“In this respect, we call on all parties to resort to constructive dialogue to resolve the crisis in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”
The statement said that SVG remains steadfast in its commitment to the Montevideo Mechanism, which was activated in Uruguay, with the intention of promoting dialogue among the political sectors in Venezuela.
The statement said that together with CARICOM, Mexico and Uruguay, SVG is “hopeful that this ‘mechanism of hope’ will be afforded the time and space to assist Venezuela in crafting a political solution by Venezuelans for Venezuelans, within the confines of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
“In this context, we encourage all States to work together in promoting and respecting Latin America and the Caribbean region as a Zone of Peace.”
The statement said that SVG “stands ready to assist constructively our beloved brothers and sisters in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to uphold the fundamental principles of respect for sovereignty, the rule of law, non-intervention, non-interference, respect for human rights and democracy as enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
“Respect for these bedrock principles will ensure the continued viability of international law and create the “pathway to peace” in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” the statement said.
May I suggest comrade Gonsalves you are a signatory to the ALBA military accord. As such you should take yourself and some of your police dressed in their army jungle fatigue uniforms and fight alongside the Maduro military who are assisted by Cuban, Iranian, and Russian special forces. You comrade can be the head of the Vincentian special forces.
You signed us up to it, so you yourself now show your solidarity and get yourself out on the front line and help eradicated the counter revolutionaries.
Too bad the USA cannot make a statement like this instead of threats, sanctions and bombs to countries they want to install puppets that will allow mechanisms to funnel profits to US-aligned entities. I am reminded of the days when I occasionally worked around some of these US jokers.

C. Ben, I never said that the USA has bombed Venezuela. As a professor you have to read more carefully or you will give brilliant students bad grades. I am speaking about the methods used by the USA. I know this very well because I used to be very close to this in my early days in Government(s) and Military. The USA has a policy of PUNISHMENT not incentives. As Tulsi Gabbard recently stated, other countries have to do what the USA wants or punishments will follow. Please read “War is a Racket” by Smedley Butler, the most decorated soldier in US History. The US Military is in many countries that you never hear about. I remember my people were deep into Iraq shooting but mainly taking prisoners, many month before Desert Storm was declared. Venezuela has a very inefficient government that really needs to go but it is even worse that the USA acts as the judge, jury and executioner. Socialism is generally a very bad Economic System. The Yellow Vest Riots in France is a cause of Socialism. In Socialism government gets to decide what the people need and taxes the death out of them to provide it.

The US has nothing to gain from the situation in Venezuela. The US produces more oil, has no trade value with them, and no interest. One day people will learn that socialist government and dictatorship is a way to suppress the population. As a expat of St Vincent, I am disgusted that the government can side with the likes of Maduro. Socialism and Dictatorship is becoming a norm in the Vincy government and is shameful.
Ben the great USA is a pariah state who for centuries have have humanized it’s African and Native people .Lest we forget not long ago am African was classified as three quarters of a human being.
