St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded two killings Friday night, bringing the homicide count this year to 20.
Dead are Zannie Edwards, 24, and Kenroy Roberts, 40, who were killed in separate incidents in Greiggs and Lowmans Leeward.
Sources say that Edwards, a resident of Lauders, and Samriel Thomas, 22, of Greiggs, were hanging out together around 4 a.m. in Greiggs when they were attacked.
Their attacker chopped Edwards to the neck, head, chest and hand, and he died at the scene.
Thomas received a chop wound to the neck, and was taken to a health centre in Marriaqua.
Meanwhile, police in South Leeward responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. Friday of a stabbing incident in Great House, Lowmans Hill.
When they arrived they met Roberts dead, with what appeared to be stab wounds.
iWitness News understands that Roberts was involved in an altercation with two other men, reportedly over a mobile phone.
Sources say that police have taken two men into custody in connection with Roberts’ death, while they have identified a suspect in connection with the killing in Greiggs.
Meanwhile, On Monday, Cauldric George, 58, who was shot in the face during the robbery at a shop in Prospect last week Friday night, Sept. 20, died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where he was being treated.
Three of the homicides this year have not been classified as murders and officials are expected to order that coroner’s inquests be conducted to determine if they resulted from acts of self defence, as claimed by the perpetrators.

My small input is, it’s time to resume Capital Punishment, if hanging is outdated maybe Lethal Injection or Execution using the electric chair should be introduced. Life imprisonment isn’t cutting it at all, it is simply not a deterrent to these senseless killings and no one even gets that sentence anymore, it’s always x amount of years with parole.
The hang man is in sabbatical that is why there are so much killings. Ignorance is a curse , my people are dying because of lack of knowledge.

What is the NDP saying about these murders? What will it do different from what’s happening now? Don’t wait until you are in power and I mean POWER – a word Ben doesn’t like to hear- , to demonstrate its plans to curb this problem. Don’t expect Ralph to do anything to protect Vincentians. He has his goons around him and probably his family. Right now Louis has a guard and I am sure when he’s out of power he will hijack out of SVG for the US.
These murderers should be put away for life.
