Accused murderer Veron Primus escaped custody at Her Majesty’s Prison on Tuesday, well-placed sources have confirmed to iWitness News.

The escape comes days after a prison officer told iWitness News in a yet-to-be-published interview that there is a serious shortage of officers at the nation’s correctional facilities.

The source said that in some instances, prisoners help correction officers to open cells, contrary to prison protocols.

Primus, 32, is charged that between Nov. 12 and 13, 2015 at Arnos Vale, with malice aforethought, he caused the death of Sharleen Greaves by an unlawful act.

Greaves, a 33-year-old real estate agent was found in her office in Arnos Vale with stab wounds to her body.

Primus has also been indicted in the United States in connection with the murder in 2006 of one of his female teenage friends.

Further, Vermont resident Mewanah Hadaway has accused Primus of holding her captive for four months at a home in the South Leeward village and he is awaiting trial on several charges related to that allegation.

    1. Jose, while I do believe that I fully understand the rationale behind your statement, you really should reconsider it because I honestly don’t think you would’ve wished for that to happen or that it would’ve have sat very well with u at all, had it been that one of his alleged victims was one of your loved ones.

      1. I seriously dont think he wish it! He just saying the carelessness of the police may lead into it because this guy is a smart man. With all charges and his history you can not keep your eyes off him! Period

  1. Wow! This has to be a joke. After all these preliminaries and this dude making a mockery of the court now he dashed for freedom. Could you believe this.

  2. There is sure a big problem happening in Sri. Vincent. That boy looks innocent. But they are the ones who are killers.

  3. Svg need to stop accepting criminals from the United states this guy is a citizen of America not svg so far he [is alleged to have] murdered a beautiful young lady in svg and one in the United states It’s time to enforce capital punishment

  4. Tom Spoody,I am just being sarcastic to emphasize a lack of accountability and responsibility. This is not an ordinary person by any means. He lived in the USA and has the knowledge and craftiness of that culture. The other question to ask is why the lady that was alleged to have kidnapped failed or is reluctant to testify?
