More jail time for con man Iso Lynch

Repeat con man Iso Lynch began the New Year paying for old crimes.

On Monday, Lynch, who is serving a prison sentence, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to two more counts of deception.

He pleaded guilty to a charge that on Dec. 18, 2016 at Mt Bentick, Georgetown, by deception, he dishonestly obtained EC$800 in cash from Ebenezer Atwell of Mt Bentick.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge that on Dec. 29, 2016 at Mt Bentick, Georgetown, by deception, he dishonestly received EC$2,400 from Ebenezer Atwell with the intention of depriving him of it.

According to the facts, Atwell lives in Canada but visits during the Christmas holidays.

On Dec. 18, 2016 about 6:55 p.m., Lynch told Atwell that his (Lynch’s) “daughter” was unwell with the kidney problems and had to travel to Trinidad. 

The con man said that his daughter’s medication was not working and she had to travel to the United States.

Lynch asked the unsuspecting man for EC$1,000 but received EC$800 instead.

Further, on Dec. 29, 2016, Lynch told Atwell that he (Lynch) was Inspector of Police Simon attached to the Office of the Prime Minister and would assist him in obtaining a firearm license for EC$2,400. 

After contemplation, Atwell handed over EC$2,400 for the licensed firearm. 

Atwell later became suspicious and learned that the defendants name was Iso Lynch and he was not a police officer and didn’t have a daughter with kidney troubles.

Magistrate Bertie Pompey sentenced Lynch to one year in prison for each charge.

The sentences will run concurrently, but consecutive to his current prison sentence.
