Preacher Nigel Morgan, on Tuesday, continued his message of embracing Jesus Christ moments after the Court of Appeal set aside the 2018 conviction of he and his wife, Althia Morgan, on grievous bodily harm charges.
“Your media has exposed me internationally, so I wish to say, world, I’m coming to tell you that Jesus is Lord and those persons who have been rejecting him like how they rejected us, turn to him, because when he comes, they are going to be sorry,” the preacher and former teacher told the media after he was set free.
“I wish to encourage all Christians to continue praying because in prisons all around the world, there are people there who are innocent,” he said, moments after his own daughter, Krystal Morgan, was escorted to prison to continue a reduced sentence for the same offence that had also seen her parents incarcerated.
“I ask that you join me around the world and let’s pray for them. And those people who are doing media, I encourage you to continue to do your job and make sure that when you do your job that you do it to please the Lord. God is good,” Mr. Morgan said.
Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were freed after the court upheld an appeal of their conviction in connection with an April 2016 incident in which their daughter poured hot liquid from a kettle onto a man in a gutter outside their home in Hopewell, Marriaqua.
Her parents were holding and beating Cuthbert Victory, then 37, when Krystal poured the hot liquid, which resulted in first-degree burns to large sections of Victory’s body.
In the days after the incident and amidst public outcry after a video of the assault was circulated on social media, Mr. Morgan told iWitness News that his family was engaged in “spiritual warfare”.
The video was not tendered in evidence, but the Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett had convicted the trio and sentenced them each, in April 2018, to four years in prison.
The magistrate rejected the prosecution joint enterprise arguments but convicted the trio under the principle of aiding and abetting.
Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delplesche had appeared for the crown in the trial, while Kay Bacchus-Baptiste represented the Morgans at the trial and at Tuesday’s appeal.
Crown Counsel Karim Nelson appeared for the respondents on Tuesday.
Asked how he felt about the fact that his daughter had returned to prison, Mr. Morgan said:
“Let God do what he continues to. He allowed it, he has the final say.”
Asked if he had any regrets about the incident altogether, Mr. Morgan said:
“The Lord says he is to prove that the devil is a liar. I’m happy that he is proving that the devil is a liar. It is me that God and the devil have been talking about. And for those who talk about spiritual warfare, what do you all know of spiritual warfare?
“Spiritual warfare is God and the devil fighting. The devil is the enemy of God, and we are in the middle, whatever we do is spiritual. And the thing is, those people who are talking about spiritual warfare in a negative sense, you need to repent. You need to repent and go back and tell the devil he’s a liar. I want you to join me, those of you who know about that — the devil is a liar. God is true.”
Mr. Morgan said he spent his time in prison “teaching, preaching, counselling, and doing research –how wicked the justice system is in all the world.
“You will hear more about that. And I hope you, iWitness News would, when the time come, that you would help the world to know that there are people in there who need to be visited by their parents, parents have rejected their youth, loved ones have rejected one another there and those people are innocent. I’ve been writing a lot of appeals and bails — up to this morning.
“There are people there who need help. You don’t know what I’m talking about because you’ve never been there. God allowed me to be there because he knows I’ll be strong. And I’ll be letting you know it’s time to begin to visit your loved ones. You Christians, go and visit your loved ones, go and visit your loved ones. And the staff around there needs help. The superintendent and all the officers are doing quite a big, big job
“… I forgive the world, because God said he would blind everyone in the meantime until this time here. So you were blinded. You couldn’t see. But I love y’all and we forgive you. Love y’all,” Mr. Morgan said and kissed his hand as he made a smacking sound.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Morgan, speaking in the same interview, said:
“Well, God is good. It takes a test to give a testimony. Go through the mess to bring a message and a lot of times, people talk. Talk is cheap. But when you experience something you could say I was there. The time I spent round there has been beneficial in many ways. You’ll hear about them.
Asked where do they go from there as a family, Mr. Morgan said:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”
Asked if it will be difficult to pick up the pieces, Mr. Morgan responded:
“Pick up pieces? There are no pieces. Those people who were called Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fire unburnt. We are going out unburnt. Daniel came out without any broken bones. We are coming out with no bones broken. Krystal has a little job to finish and she will finish it. We pray that she will finish it and I know those ladies in there with listen to some of the things that she was telling them. We have had a lot of work doing round there too. And we will continue to pray. For those of you who work in prisons, thank you; continue to work.”
This preacher man is a disgusting human being. He may forgive the world is rebutted because Vincentians, even the World do not forgive him.
It’s time for him to pay the damaged man damages.

Pastor Morgan is not a true minister of the gospel he isn’t representing Christ. he is Christ like or Christ minded at all what happened to turn the other cheek as the scriptures tells us to do .Pastor Morgan needs to seek God and repent he needs to look for that young man and take care of him for the rest of his life .any man who has the spirit of God leading guiding and directing him cannot and will not stand up and fight back they will forgive and walk away just as Christ did .

It is terrible when people use God to shield them to do wickedness. I hope this does not mean that we now have a precedent that people can do such things to others and just mix God or Jesus into the mix and be able to get away with it. What if Buda or Muhammad or Yahweh or Ahura-Mazda were mentioned? What if someone says that Satan told them to cleanse someone’s soul?
SVG is making a big mistake by not taking religion out of government institutions. Haven’t we learned from hundreds of years of human history? When the Prime Minister decided to play Pontis Pilate with the gay issue, (because he, as well as the opposition are too weak and frightened to make a controversial decision in an election year) the PM washed his hands of the issue and said the churches can decide.
Rickie Burnett made the right decision and it should not have been overturned because it sets a bad precedent!

There is a fundamental issue here for all those who may have the misfortune of sitting under Nigel Morgan or this Morgan family for biblical guidance, and that issue is one of their getting good and proper Reformed Biblical Guidance, grounded in the light of revealed Scriptures.
Mr Morgan talks about “Spiritual Warfare” and we have this quote from him. “And those who talk about spiritual warfare, what do you all know of spiritual warfare?” In addition Mr Morgan tells us this; that “Spiritual warfare is God and the devil fighting”. What total and utter nonsense!
This man is calling himself a preacher and a Pastor but one should ask him, where on earth did he learnt his Bible doctrines and which blundering, erring teacher taught and trained him?
If this man understood even first principle, he would not make such a stupid statement, as “Spiritual warfare is God and the devil fighting”. For here are a few basic first principles about the Living God that had Mr Morgan learnt them he would not be making such foolish statements about God. Of revelation GOD is this;
a) He is omnipresent. That is He is present everywhere at the same time.
b) He is omniscient. That is He is knowing everything there is to know.
c) He is omnipotent. That is He can do all his desires.
With such a God as this, how can such a one ever be said to be fighting with his creature, the Devil?
It can only be utter ignorance on the part of this man Mr Morgan, to make such a foolish statement, a statement that shows his untrained position in dealing with Biblical matters. And one that needs learning.
Now that Mr and Mrs Morgan are free, perhaps they could find the time to go and receive good reformed teaching if indeed their true desire is to spread the word of Almighty God in SVG.

For my part, I always recommend that anyone wishing to understand the Bible, that they should first invest in a copy of Martin Luther’s Book. The said book that had sparked off the Reformation in Europe all those years ago in the year 1525, namely “BONDAGE OF THE WILL”. A very good place to start one’s reading.

I wrote on John Calvin during my early college years. I too was impressed with the Calvin doctrine compare with the Wesleyan Armenian doctrine. Frightening! The world has enough “warped” people. I am especially frightened of these types: Politicians, Preachers, Lawyers, etc…that can take wrong and make it seem right. In any other civilized country these people would have been given 10 years in prison, mainly because they show NO remorse for thier act! Watching the Video above of Mr. & Mrs Morgan’s Interview, that Kenton have so graciously provided for us, what comes to mind is how one such as Mr Morgan could be so very sincere in his desire and dealings with Biblical matters but yet so grossly and sincerely very wrong.
What Mr Morgan had demonstrated there in his interview was his passion for the word of God, his years of reading and teaching the Bible and yet in all that, he lacks much basic understand of Reformed Bible doctrines, the same is all so common all over St Vincent and the Grenadines among those who aspire to be Pastors and teachers in our land while they are so lacking in Reformed Bible training.
My great hope is that those Vincentians seeking to teach the Bible Theology in SVG, would find it pertinent and very necessary to invest in some works on Reformed Systematic Theology, rather than relying upon their own understanding. Biblical Truth after all is what is fundamentally important.

The very important question in this civil suit would be who was the instigator and the provocateur in this incident ……..which was lost in this trial and why it was partly one of the reasons it got overturn .

What is sickening about this whole justice system thing is that one set of judges have the power to say that another set of judges erred because judicially, they have the bigger balls. But their (appeals) decision in this case cannot sit right. It was not right. They just have the power to change. Another reason why we cannot give this Caribbean court final power. In this case they have not erred any less than the magistrate they overruled.
As someone who has spiritual care over a congregation, this Pastor’s dialogues need to image a spirit of humility.

Well my good INTRESTED Dr Smith, I am happy to have a discussion with any on the merits of T.U.L.I.P and John Calvin’s, Calvinism in relation to John Wesley’s slight variation of the teachings of Jacobus Arminius, as was put forward by the Remonstrants.
Hence, if you are Wesleyan, you would no doubt be acquainted with the arguments that both John Wesley and George Whitefield often had over these same issues, though their friendship never diminished.
Further as this issue of Calvinism and Arminianism was profoundly important to the early reformers they had put the said matter before the Dutch Parliament, and who after they had had much long sittings and much debates, rejected Arminius Remonstrants.
Thus in 1618 the Dutch Parliament ruled that the five points of Calvinism were in fact the correct representation of Bible teaching. Therefore, my good INTRESTED Dr Smith, since neither of us are theologians, I hardly think that we could do better than they.

For those who do not understand where the errors of the Morgan’s emanated from or why there is such a heated debate about Arminianism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arminianism a form of perception of Bible Doctrines as put forth by Jacobus Arminius (1560–1609) and his historic supporters known as Remonstrants and later given legs by John Wesley, the Pentecostals and todays Charismatic Pentecostals.
The same is in contrast to Calvinism, so named after the French Theologian John Calvin, 19 July 1509 -27 May 1564 who formulated the doctrine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvinism and which was the doctrines of the Reformers who broke from the Roman Church during the Reformation.
The differences are fundamental and dictated as to how scripture is perceived and thought. And since Systematic Theology points the direction of scriptures in teachings by men, from Martin Luther to George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards to Charles H Spurgeon, all of whom were declared Calvinist we can evaluate the differences for ourselves even with basic common-sense.
To Quote Charles H Spurgeon;
“I have my own opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else.
I do not believe we can preach the gospel if we do not preach justification by faith without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in His dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing unchangeable eternal, immutable, conquering love of Jehovah; nor do I think we can preach the gospel unless we base it upon the special and particular redemption of His elect and chosen people which Christ wrought out upon the cross”. (Charles Spurgeon, The New Park Street Pulpit, Vol. 1, 1856).
Blame the prosecution for doing a poor job. In addition, was a video not available to evidence what happened? I believe our class system raised its ugly head and had an impact on the outcome . Kay should not should not pursue the appeal, she has no conscience. As they say ” dogs ate her conscience.
Yesteryear the people who were spreading the message of the supreme deity across the earth were committing genocide in north and south America, Africa, Australia, the middle and far east to expand their Empires. Obviously there were other philosophies other than those of servitude and altruism. Nowadays they are the keepers of high moral standards and sets the rules. GOD may not be a fake entity but the devils have surely twisted and shaped everything to their advantage (just read in the bible where the golden haired, multicolored eyed individuals originated). Reality is not an imagined ideal but rather the things you see, hear, feel and know. Remember the wise who said: “we sick and tired of your isms, schisms ……… and now you see the light stand up for your rights”
I don’t think I know anyone who has commented on this case but I would really like to hear from other church leaders. When a Jamaican artist known for foul lyrics tries to get a work permit to have a show in SVG, the church puts pressure on the Commissioner to deny such artist from performing. We can’t have strip clubs, no whore houses, no nude bars etc. The church will raise it’s voice and these venues will be closed before even open. What I’m reminding us of is that the church has power. Now where is the church or the church’s opinion on this matter? Why is the church silent? Church, if you happen to read this comment please say something.
