The old Mustique Airways Hanger, located at the decommissioned ET Joshua Airport, was full of excitement as St. Vincent and the Grenadines saw the execution of two gymnastics competitions — Inter-school Gymnastics and Dolphin Gymnastics Coconut Classic – on Feb. 21 and 22.

This year saw the addition of the first-ever Interschool Gymnastics Competition amongst one 175 students from five primary schools, with results as follows:

  • First — Windsor Primary School
  • Second — Sugar Mill Primary School
  • Third — Mustique Primary School
  • Fourth — Kingstown Preparatory School
  • Fifth — St. Mary’s Primary School

The highlight of the weekend was the Dolphin Gymnastics Coconut Classic, which saw 67 gymnasts and six coaches competing from six teams across Antigua & Bermuda, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 

St. Vincent and the Grenadines was represented by two teams, Dolphin Gymnastics and Mustique.

Gymnasts competed on vaulting table, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and floor exercise. the competition was open to level 1 through level 9.

Antigua and Bermuda won 14 medals, all of them gold.

The Barbados team flew home with 22 medals — 5 gold, 4 silver and 13 bronze.

Trinidad and Tobago went home with 34 medals, made up of 18 gold, 13 silver and 3 bronze.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines amassed 104 medals, namely 35 gold, 29 silver and 40 bronze.
