Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves says that he can sue also every person who speaks at the village meetings being held by the opposition New Democratic Party across the country.
The NDP has been holding the meetings across the country, saying that it is taking its message to the people ahead of the general elections, which Gonsalves says will be held this year.
“Look, is the same way that since this scurrying around holding these little meetings with 10, 15, 20 people, In fact, if you read this stuff, and I’ve been reading them is really awful stuff they’ve been saying, you know, almost everybody who speaks at these meetings, I could sue them you know because feel that, they have nothing to say, they have a faithful of 10 or 15 people, 20, 30 perhaps,” Gonsalves said on WE FM on Monday.
“The biggest one they had was in Barrouallie and more than half the people down Bottle and Glass were Labour people heckling them, telling them they talking foolishness,” the prime minister said.
Gonsalves did not elaborate on the allegedly defamatory statements made at any of the meetings.

YOLO, most Vincentians do not realise how the suing now works. Ralph can sue any one he wants to sue. But we cannot sue him without a fiat from the DPP, which will take months to get a negative decision on. Its now a one way street in his favour. He can sue you next week, you cannot sue him ever, unless you have untold wealth and appeal the DPP decision. Even after all that the DPP can take over your case against fatty and discontinue it. We have been well and truly shafted when it comes to legal rights.
Suing may well now be a Francis/Gonsalves family dynasty privilege to the exclusion of all other citizens, or at least that’s the way it feels.
Leaders of most countries are secure enough that they do not sue thier people or the opposition, no matter what they say. Truth is that Ralph Gonsalves is a very insecure man and has to resort to “gutter” tactics to stay on top. Donald Trump could sue the ass off the Democrats but it is not becoming of a head of state to do so. …so he does not. NOT TRUE IN SVG!
In a country that believes in the rule of law, the opposition could also sue Ralph Gonsalves for most of what he says; but the opposition has NO CONTROL of the courts! Can this be said of the ULP? It has been proven by an appellate court that SVG has at least one politically biased judge. This does not include those judges that have a bias because they are afraid of repercussions depending on how they decide a case.
Ralph Gonsalves should not come out and act like he is “holier than thou” because most of us see that he is NOT!

Dear Grace, you are of course spot on correct. We must ask the Region if there is a procedure where Vincentians can have a committee look into all the accusations and allegations against Ralph Gonsalves from women claiming to have been raped or sexually assaulted by him.
Please we are imploring the Worlds nations and polices forces to help us get the proper information and to compile a list of such women as have complained.
