St. Vincent and the Grenadines has recorded its 15th positive COVID -19 case.

“This new case is closely associated with numbers #13 and #14 reported on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday 23, by the Caribbean Public Health Agency –CARPHA,” the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said on Sunday.

“Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer Beache says investigations have determined that the last three reported cases of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines form part of a cluster, due to import-related local spread,” the statement said.

There are now eight persons who have recovered from COVID-19, having each received the two negative COVID-19 tests required to be medically cleared.

The new results for the latest three recovered patients were received in the past 24 hours. There are now seven active cases of COVID-19 in SVG, the statement continued.

“Dr. Keizer-Beache continues to stress the importance of maintaining the public health measures currently in place which include hand hygiene, cough etiquette, physical distancing of at least 3-6 feet in public spaces and strict adherence to quarantine and isolation.

“Additionally, the correct and safe use of face coverings when physical distancing is not possible is recommended. These measures, Dr Keizer Beache maintains are vital, if we are to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” NEMO stated.

  1. While I understand the rationals as to why the names and locations of people tested positive with COVID-19 is kept secret; that in itself is tearing apart the safety net intended to protect the rest of the country and therefore weakens the preventation and mitigation of the Coronavirus. Lack of relevant information can create more risk to society. we need a balance approach.

  2. Which method is being used by Carpha for testing, crp (swab), rapid testing (blood), or both?
Understand crp checks for virus particles (antigen) ,rapid testing tests for antibodies.
Notice results being displayed on blood sample bottles suggesting rapid testing.

  3. Thank God. Kudos to the Gvt especially Miń: Browne and his team. I appeal to ALL to put partisan politics aside and work together to rid ourselves of Covid19. I thank Dr Friday for not objecting to bringing home our sea personal. Let’s pray about this noble endeavour of our Gvt
