St. Vincent and the Grenadines currently has no known active COVID-19 cases, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said Thursday evening.

This was confirmed by the receipt of negative PCR results  that completed the multi-tiered testing protocol in place in SVG.

This process requires that preliminary positive results must trigger an aggressive intervention aimed at the rapid implementation of isolation, quarantine of contacts and additional testing.

The Vincentian nationals who arrived from the BVI on Sept. 5 were swabbed on Sept. 10 and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR on Sept. 11.

As per protocol, additional RT-PCR tests were conducted at the Molecular Laboratory Unit of the Ministry of Health and at CARPHA, and returned negative results for SARS-CoV-2.

All passengers who arrived on AA 945 from Miami on Sept. 12 were found to be negative on RT-PCR testing for SARS-C0V-2, and have been released from their transition quarantine hotels.

SVG to date has recorded 64 COVID-19 cases, all of whom have now been classified as recovered.

“The public is, again, reminded of our shared responsibility of ensuring that everyone adheres to all of the protocols established in St. Vincent and the Grenadines aimed at reducing the risk of the importation and subsequent transmission of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” NEMO said.

“These protocols, including testing, quarantine and isolation, are vital and have been proven to reduce the introduction and slow the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”

  1. Based on an earlier announcement you would have sworn the news would have stated passengers from BVI tested negative in the headline. Huh.

I wish SVG would stop hastily making positive announcements to link their returning nationals from BVI to positive Covid cases, when once again CARPA has proven them wrong. Seems as if something else is at play.

  2. Evelyn H Deane Robinson says:

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added into you.vincy people continue to pray and trust God. He is our protector, our provider,. Our healer, only He can satisfy and keep. When we put Him first watch the blessings and prosperity.

  3. There is no way it can be said that there is no active case in SVG since tests are not done for the general population who show up at the clinics or Hospital with Covid symptoms. It would be a reasonable assumption those numbers are likely low. But we do not know.
Let me take this chance to warn VINCENTIANS LIVING ABROAD and especially in the USA. This being the fall you should have started taking Covid protections more than one month ago. Let me explain that people with dark skin but living in the Northern Hemisphere, away from the equator must take precautions to elevate your VITAMIN D level. You (adult) should be taking at least 4,000 international units per day of VITAMIN D3. Also regularly take Cod Liver Oil, eat oily fishes like salmon to elevate your VITAMIN D for the winter months. Take the other precautions too. But VITAMIN D is central to good immune health.
The University of Cordaba (Spain) Hospital recently released a study that showed VITAMIN D is critical in prevention but also profoundly useful for treatment of Covid-19. Population studies across Africa has shown the same thing and is the reason why Africa has been minimally affected by this virus. All kinds of fancy reasons are proposed: worms, young population. But none of these fully explain the excellent results in Africa and the Caribbean: It is VITAMIN D.
Also take Cod Liver Oil and eat oily fish generally, they provide good levels of VITAMIN D.
Those of you living in FL and GA.. beware your Governors appear to be going for genocide. Protect yourselves. NY has done a good job but they have not stressed VITAMIN D prevention to AAs. VITAMIN D supplementation should have been pushed to AAs .and other dark skinned people for best prevention, but NOTHING was done.
Be sure to do these things now through March or April.
