Emergency room services at the Modern Medical and Diagnostic Centre (MMDC) in Georgetown resumed at noon on Thursday with the reopening of the Accident and Emergency Department (AED).
The department was closed one day earlier to allow for sanitisation after a patient who knew they had COVID-19 went there fore medical services and exposed 17 other persons to the viral illness.
The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) said in a press statement Wednesday night that the patients was informed of their positive result on Sept. 11 and served with a medical officer order, violated the isolation order, thus possibly exposing others to the COVID-19 virus.
“All exposed clients (10) and staff (7) have been advised to quarantine and will be screened over the next five to seven days for COVID-19,” NEMO said.
In the interim, accident and emergency services were provided utilising the Georgetown District Clinic.
