The Central Water and Sewerage Authority continues to further alert its customers to be prepared during this hurricane season for any unplanned water disruptions.
“This has already been the most active hurricane season on record, and St Vincent and the Grenadines has also had several storm and flood warnings,” the CWSA said in a press statement on Monday.
The company said that over the past few weeks, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has experienced intermittent heavy rainfall which has resulted in several broken pipelines due to fallen trees and land slippage.
These broken pipelines have demanded that the CWSA undertake emergency work in several areas.
“It is important to note that sudden disruptions to the water supply in any area can occur as a result of adverse weather conditions,” the CWSA said.
“The CWSA continues to be actively involved in the monitoring of climate, weather and river flow data through our Water Resources Unit and will endeavour to provide information in a timely manner to its customers.
“With October statistically being the wettest month of the year, the general public is then urged to follow the CWSA’s Facebook page and follow media outlets both online and via radio stations for any developments.”
